ezPLM

ezPLM is the SAP recommended service to implement a core SAP PLM solution for a fixed price.

Standard processes provided by SAP and the PLM Alliance are used to define, scope and
implement a core SAP PLM solution and support the migration of engineering data and
documents from your existing legacy PDM/PLM system to SAP PLM.

This solution provides unique benefits for those organizations ready to:

  • Know exactly what they’ll be getting beginning with the initial contact
  • Minimize their implementation risk due to the fixed price offering
  • Focus their initial implementation on an “80%” best practice solution
  • Scope their solution choosing from pre-defined packages and options
  • Use precise specifications, use cases, acceptance criteria and resource plans
  • Limit and scale their commitments and investments due to the package approach
  • Utilize only experienced implementation experts provided by their software vendor
  • Have deliverables and benefits of each package be clear from the project start

ezPLM Options

ezPLM offers pre-defined, pre-configured options with packaged products and services supplying specified 'use cases' that are common
in the target industries.  The PLM Alliance offers "fixed price" consulting and implementation services for the ezPLM options.

ezPLM Phases

Package 1 - Assessment

Based on a ezPLM checklist, SAP and the PLM Alliance partners provide a thorough assessment of
the existing CAD/CAM/PDM landscape and engineering business processes.

Key-deliverables of package 1 are an “as-is-report”, a target solution layout, a budgeting estimate, a
scope definition and a fixed price quote for packages 2 or 3.

Packages 2 and 3 – Hands-On Project Team Education Environment

After the initial assessment, SAP and the PLM Alliance partners provide a hosted proof of concept
system based on industry best practices that offers options for all typical engineering integration
aspects and PDM business processes. The customer project team is educated in hands-on workshops
and maps the ezPLM options to their business processes and most relevant business issues. Package
3 adds a local copy of the ezPLM master system and a budget for customer specific tailoring.

Key-deliverables of packages 2 and 3 include a detailed scope definition for the target solution layout,
a gap analysis, a project plan with working tasks, internal and external resource requirements and
timelines and an analysis of legacy systems and data along with a data migration plan.

SAP and the PLM Alliance partners deliver a fixed price quote for package 4 with precise scope
definition, deliverables, use cases and acceptance criteria.

Package 4 – Production SAP PLM System

The key-deliverable of package 4 is a production SAP PLM system. All chosen ezPLM options are
implemented, tested and accepted based on pre-defined use cases and acceptance criteria. Agreed-to
education and documentation are delivered and migration of legacy data is accomplished if that option
is chosen.

Implementation cost is contractually agreed to and will not be exceeded – SAP and the PLM Alliance
partners assume risk of project overruns.
